OneNote states "We couldn't find a notebook at "https://blah blah". A notebook usually has a table of contents file (*.onetoc or *.onetoc2)."

Hi - I had previously created this OneNote on my company SharePoint site.  I am the owner.  I've shared it with various colleagues.  Now I've reinstalled Windows 8.1, and when I open the document online it's fine.

1. If I click the Open In OneNote button I get this error message: We couldn't find a notebook at "https://blah blah". A notebook usually has a table of contents file (*.onetoc or *.onetoc2).

2. I click OK and OneNote thinks for a second before saying the same thing again.

3. I click OK again and this time it says "We couldn't open that location.  It might not exist or you might not have permission to open it.  Please contact the owner of onenote:https://blah blah for more information."

Nothing I can find to make it work on my desktop version of OneNote.  Any help appreciated.

This worked for me.

Open the notebook this way from the OneNote desktop app directly

File->Open->Other Web Localtions

Navigate to the "https://blah blah/Notebook     folder

Open the "Open Notebook.onetoc2" file

Hi there - i couldn't navigate to a SharePoint area starting https://etc. and so couldn't check this out at all - but thanks for your suggestion.  However, I may have solved this for my own situation another way by adding the SharePoint web address stub to my internet explorer trusted sites.  Seems to have solved it for today but time will tell if this also works for my other PC.  I'll report back soon.
